Our Office Building Is in Spider-Man!

Our New York office, that is.

(Spoiler alert) You know those scenes in the Amazing Spider-Man where Peter pretends to be an intern and sneaks into Oscorp? Well, here's the lobby...

...and here's where Gwen Stacy gave the interns their orientation...

This is right by the Hearst cafeteria, which is an AWESOME cafeteria. They have a salad bar, a pasta bar, a sandwich bar, a sushi bar, a dessert bar, a guest chef whipping up a special each week...I loved it there! Every time we went out to eat, I wanted to ask if we could eat at the cafeteria instead!

It was just so cool seeing these familiar places on the big screen. Next month: Manila and Palawan in the Bourne Legacy!

Of Premieres and Pedring

I was supposed to watch D's movie premiere today, and was ready and willing to give my support. I did have three concerns though:
  1. I get really affected when I watch movies about cheating. I normally want to gouge the mistress' eyes out!
  2. I was slightly nervous about how my husband would react to a dramatic film. I don't really know a lot of guys who would eagerly line up to see a movie called No Other Woman.
  3. I didn't know if I was fully prepared to see a friend MOMOL it up onscreen.
But because of Typhoon Pedring, the premiere was cancelled. Oh well. Will have to catch it when it comes out. Maybe not with my husband though. And in case you haven't seen the trailer...

Why Did I Not Hear about This Sooner?!

Apparently, I've been hiding under a rock because last week was the first time I found out about...

"Zombadings," for my non-Filipino-speaking readers, pretty much means "gay zombies." This movie was shown during the Cinemalaya indie film festival and will be shown in major theaters on the 31st. I can't wait! I skipped watching Thor, Captain America, and a bunch of other movies because I wasn't too excited about them, but I am definitely not missing this one!!!

Total Eclipse

One of the perks of the new job: I now get invited to movie premieres! (Last time, I just tagged along with the OK! girls.) Last night, I was happy to attend an advance screening of...

Eclipse, the third installment in the Twilight saga. And my date was, of course, Twi-hard Coni! I really couldn't think of a better person to ask. We got an Eclipse tote bag with a paperback copy of the book. We also got free ice cream courtesy of Selecta, and other eats by Figaro. And in the theater, we sat beside a dude who had actually been to Forks! How cool is that? He told us that there's a sign in the real La Push that says "No Vampires Allowed"! Haha.

Another highlight:

Photo op with Nanay Coring, the National Bookstore matriarch! This was National Bookstore's first movie premiere, and of course she had to be there. Poor thing was nursing a broken arm though. We asked her about it, and she said she fell in the bodega. "Bakit nasa bodega pa po kayo?" ("Why were you in the warehouse?") Coni asked. Nanay Coring replied matter-of-factly, "Aba siyempre, nandoon ang trabaho!" ("Of course! That's where the work is!") At eighty-something, she's still at it! Amazing.

Since the cinema at Podium was relatively small, it felt like such an intimate screening, a private little affair. I won't spoil the movie for anyone, but suffice it to say that it was better than the first two (still somewhat cheesy--can't be avoided--but less so) and that I hereby declare my allegiance to Team Jacob!
